Role Title:
Regulatory Compliance and PMO Specialist
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance and PMO Specialist to lead regulatory impact assessments and conduct PMO health assessments across industries. This role requires a highly confident, knowledgeable, and reliable professional who can execute deliverables independently while providing trusted expertise. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the South African regulatory landscape, European regulations (such as GDPR), and their impacts on various industries. A foundational grasp of project management principles is also essential for driving assessments effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Impact Assessments:
– Analyze current and upcoming regulatory changes in South Africa, Europe, and globally, assessing their impact on diverse industries.
– Stay informed about laws such as POPIA, FICA, GDPR, and other region-specific legislation.
– Develop comprehensive reports and recommendations for businesses to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
– Provide strategic advice to organizations on mitigating risks and leveraging opportunities created by regulations.
2. PMO Health Assessments:
– Evaluate existing PMO frameworks and practices within organizations.
– Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas of improvement in project governance, delivery, and oversight.
– Develop actionable plans to enhance PMO effectiveness and align it with business objectives.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
– Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather data and insights.
– Present findings and recommendations confidently to leadership teams.
4. Execution and Support:
– Take ownership of deliverables with minimal supervision.
– Manage project timelines, ensuring high-quality delivery within agreed timeframes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
1. Educational Background:
– Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
– A postgraduate qualification in Compliance Management, Risk Management, or Project Management is highly advantageous.
2. Experience:
– At least 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or governance.
– Proven experience conducting regulatory assessments and/or PMO evaluations.
– Strong knowledge of both South African and European regulatory frameworks, particularly GDPR, POPIA, and FICA.
– Cross-industry exposure (insurance, financial services, healthcare, or retail preferred).
2. Skills:
– Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of local and international regulations, including GDPR and POPIA.
– Analytical Skills: Ability to dissect complex regulatory requirements and assess their organizational impact.
– Project Management: Familiarity with Agile or traditional project management methodologies; certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
– Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to present findings clearly and confidently.
